After 7 hours of driving our first day has come to a close. Our day started with strangely cold June temperatures, rain, and beltway traffic. We had a very long drive ahead but we were prepared with movies, tons of snacks, drinks, and the kids DS's of course. The drive through the Virginia and West Va. mountains proved to be beautiful. The mountains were ominous with a thick fog layer hanging in the tree tops. We stopped for dinner in a little town and enjoyed fine dining at the "Sizzler!" We all agree, Sizzler has sizzled out! YUK! We then embarked on an 80 mile adventure of dark, narrow, winding, county roads to our final destination. Oh did mention it was pouring down raining and very dark. We are now bedding down for the night before setting out for our Jet boat ride down the New River Gorge in the morning! Stay Tuned.
